Astrocytoma Treatment Information

An astrocytoma is a brain tumor that affects a type of glial cell known as an astrocyte. The astrocytes provide various supportive functions in the central nervous system, including repair processes, the provision of nutrients and the regulation of electrical impulses in the brain. As an astrocytoma grows, it may cause symptoms such as headaches, seizures, memory loss, nausea, blurred vision or behavioral changes. It is generally when symptoms appear that an astrocytoma is first diagnosed.
