Purpose
The Flow Cytometry provides state-of-the-art flow cytometry services and technologies to Moffitt Cancer Center members and their collaborators. Flow cytometry is an indispensable analytical tool for cell biology, immunology, and translational research efforts. Technologies provided by the core allow users to accurately analyze multiple characteristics of biological targets, as well as an ability to rapidly purify target populations to assess specific cellular functions and molecular characterization of isolated cell populations.
Services
- Multi-parameter analysis including DNA cell cycle, ploidy, apoptosis, viability, phenotyping, kinetics, cytokines, fluorescent proteins, proliferation, signal transduction, bead array, and morphology.
- Cell sorting

Hours of Operation
The Flow Cytometry Core is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Core Staff are available for assisted services Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Assisted after-hours usage must be scheduled in advance and approved by the Core Facility Manager. After hours, unassisted usage on the analyzers is available for trained and approved users. Usage is on a first-come, first-serve basis; however, priority is given to Moffitt Cancer Center members with peer-reviewed funded projects.
Location
The Flow Cytometry Core is located in the Moffitt Research Center (MRC) on the first floor, room 1295.
Scheduling
The FCC uses a Laboratory Information Management Suite (LIMS) located on the Moffittnet for all Core requests, scheduling, billing, and usage tracking.
Publications
All publications based on work conducted in the Flow Cytometry Core Facility should acknowledge the facility. A suggested statement is as follows:
This work has been supported in part by the Flow Cytometry Core at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, a comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute and funded in part by Moffitt’s Cancer Center Support Grant (P30-CA076292)
If a Core Staff member(s) significantly contributes or participates in a project, investigators are encouraged to consider including the individual(s) in the list of authors.
